At a time when Q-Tip's breezy, yet heavy production on Nas' Illmatic track "One Love" is getting a multitude of spins due to a new reissue, it's intriguing to hear Vancouver/Los Angeles producer STINT flip Q-Tip's 2007-released single "Work It Out." Whereas the original is mid-2000s pop radio fodder, the flip by the artist whose government name is Ajay Bhattacharyya is mid-tempo magic that when it dives into a blissed-out and ambient breakdown hits another level of vibes. With work in the past for the likes of Lana del Ray and Banks, this remix certainly sets a certain expectation of quality that most assuredly has us waiting to hear more.
