Five Tracks: Werkha

Recently we feel in love with Werkha's Bounce EP, which was a welcome, chilled calm during a storm of a Miami Music Week. The Tru Thoughts release gave us solace, an allowed us to clear our heads while trying to navigate Ultra waters. We got word from Werkha that he had a pretty solid selection going while he was working on Beacons, and he hit us with five of these selections for this week's Five Tracks.

Lorca - "Can't See Higher"

LORCA CSH

Even though I've listened to this tune quite a lot, it still grows on me with each listen. It feels like good music, and I think Lorca's sound is slightly reminiscent of some of the downtempo I enjoyed growing up.

Bullion - "Get Familiar"

BULLION GF

Such a big track for me. I like how it bounces along, and it's so confident in its execution. It's really the shape of the sound that stands out. It moves around and pulls you in.

Dimlite - "Lullaby For A Gastric Ulcer"

DIMLITE ULCER

Another one I always come back to, a really nice blend of acoustic, sampled and synthesized sounds. A slow, stripped back jam with jazzy undertones. Dimlite is definitely one of my favorite musicians.

Martyn & Mike Slott - "All Nights"

MARTYN MIKE SLOTT AN

Ooof, this one's lively! My good mate showed me this track, it's such a refreshing sound. It's got a wicked heavy groove, meandering through syncopated stabs of percussion. Delicious for the dance floor.

Black Coffee ft. Zakes Bantwini - "Juju (Halo & Atjazz Deeply Minded Mix)"

juju citydeepmusic

I can't remember how I found out about this, but I'm so glad I did. Just what I like. It's got that afro-jazz cross over for the dance floor which I enjoy so much. Switches through some different vibes, too, which is nice.
