What The Hell Just Happened In Music This Week?

Lil Boosie is finally home.

This week didn't give us as much news as previous ones—maybe because it's the week before SXSW or maybe because everyone in the industry knew Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie would finally be released from prison and they didn't want to steal his shine. The news of his release has most rap fans excited to hear from the now 31-year-old rapper after being incarcerated for five years.

In other positive news, YMCMB's Mack Maine told DJ Vlad that Cash Money has adopted Young Thug. We're not sure what this means because it definitely doesn't mean he's signed.

More confusion was fueled this week after reports that Rick Ross' latest album will outsell Pharrell's. All that and more on What The Hell Just Happened In Music This Week?

YMCMB said they adopted Young Thug—which is all they can do when he is still signed by 1017.

Date: March 3

"Today Mack Maine spoke on the status of Cash Money and Thug for Vlad TV, saying that Thug has been adopted by the label. He goes on to expand upon this by saying that he's been working closely with him. He makes sure not to outright confirm a signing, so we'll have to wait just a little longer to see what transpires."—Justin Davis

"Mastermind" To Outsell "G I R L"

Rick Ross' Mastermind is slated to outsell Pharrell's G I R L. Being a Rozay stan is not something anyone will admit to, but we know you're out there and just won't admit it. Like fans of the band Creed.

Date: March 5

"Rick Ross may be at the top of the charts next week. According to Hits Daily Double, the MMG head's latest album Mastermind is on pace to take the No. 1 spot on the sales charts, selling 145k-160k copies. Pharrell's new album, G I R L, by comparison, is only expected to sell 85k-95k copies.

Lil Boosie Released From Prison

BOOSIE BACK!

Date: March 5

"According to Baton Rougue news channel WAFP, Lil Boosie was released from custody tonight.

Lil Boosie's release date from prison has changed several times throughout this last year. According to NOLA, The Louisiana Department of Correction's automated Offender Locator system lists Lil Boosie's (born Torrence Hatch) release date as May 20, 2014, which is still two months out. However, DOC spokesperson Pam LaBorde said the system takes up to 24 hours to reflect any changes in its registry."—Edwin Ortiz
