For those born to immigrant parents, family can be a complicated affair. As parents struggle to find a middle ground between their national identity and the American culture they now find themselves in, children must struggle with both generational and cultural divides that sometimes can prove too deep. But as frustrating as these gaps can be, family becomes an inescapable part of childhood for first generation Americans. As overbearing as family can be, it is also a support system.

Charlotte rapper Well$ is well-versed in both the frustrations and enrichment that comes from living in an immigrant family. The son of illegal immigrants from Congo, his relationship with his parents has not always been stable; at one point, his father wanted to kick him out of the house. However, throughout his journey, he has relied on the unwavering support of his grandmother.

In his video for "Savoir-Faire," he shows off his effortless rap skills, grandmother by his side. She's rocking Jordans, she's nodding her head slightly to the beat, and she's very likely cooler than your grandmother. What more do you want to see?

"Savoir-Faire" is the first single off Well$' upcoming album, MTYSD: Revenge of the African Booty Scratcher. More music, and possibly more cameos from one of the coolest grandmothers in the rap game, are on the way.
