Kevin Gates's newest mixtape, By Any Means, has received a lot of praise thus far. One of the noteworthy songs on the project is the Dun Deal-produced "Stop Lyin," on which Gates flexes his powerful melodies and his ability to play with flow and pace. However, before the beat went to Gates, it was in the hands of Atlanta's Rome Fortune, who is working on a collaborative project with Dun Deal.
The result, "Trap Pop," is a much different song than "Stop Lyin." For starters, Rome does not try to harmonize the way Gates does. Instead, he uses his knack for letting the production breathe, his slow flow meandering over the instrumental. While "Trap Pop" will not appear on Rome's EP with Dun Deal, it is a convincing sign of what's about to come.
