A young Jay Z graces the cover of New York Magazine's "Annual Yesteryear Issue," which highlights "100 Years of Pop Music in New York." The photo taken of Jay is from 1997, who was around 29 years old at that time. He's wearing a Cincinnati Reds hat to match his red t-shirt, with a leather jacket pulled over it.

This is one of eight covers featured for NY Mag's music issue. Other artists who received covers include The Notorious B.I.G., Bob Dylan, and Frank Sinatra. Check out Jody Rosen's in-depth essay on the topic here.
