While in Auckland, New Zealand, Bruce Springsteen decided to treat the fans with a cover they likely never saw coming: Lorde's "Royals." Springsteen gave the hometown hero's song a distinctive country feel with an acoustic guitar and harmonica. He also modified the lyrics, referring to himself as "king bee" instead of "queen bee."
"Royals" was the lead single for Lorde's debut album, Pure Heroine. The album has now officially sold over one million copies. This is the first debut album from a female artist to sell over one million copies since Adele's 19 did so in 2011. While 19 took roughly three years to reach this milestone (originally coming out in 2008), Pure Heroine was released five months ago.
