February 21, 1995
DJ Quik—the rapper/actor/producer triple threat—dropped his classic third album Safe + Sound on February 21, 1995. The record is overwhelmingly steeped in his success with music and women, and Quik delivers funky bars and beats. He's still borrowing from P-Funk, as he announces on the opening track "Street Level Entrance," and it still works—less than a month after its release, Safe + Sound hit the No. 1 spot on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
