There are many events in rap history that are either unknown or forgotten, from album releases to deaths to random ass events most of us can't even recall. Lil Wayne's highest selling album to this day is still 2008's Tha Carter III. The demand for Wayne following that album was at an all time high as he firmly established himself as the Best Rapper Alive. So at the peak of his powers, what did Wayne do? He decided to make a rock album called Rebirth. The album sounded like a bad idea. And then we actually heard the album it was totally the album fail we thought it'd be.
To make matters worse, six weeks before Rebirth was slated to hit stores, online retailer Amazon accidentally sent fans hard copies of the album due to what they claim was a shipping error. Not that it mattered, in the end the album still managed to sell 775,000 copies which is a whole lot more than a lot of other rap albums. In the end the album went down as a bizarre chapter in Wayne's history—his "African Child" phase, so to speak. But hey, at least it gave us the Eminem collaboration, "Drop The World." But that was just a reminder Wayne should stick to rapping and put that guitar down.
