Questlove is calling foul on Rolling Stone for replacing Drake on the cover of their recent issue.

The controversy began earlier this week when excerpts of Drake's interview with the magazine were leaked online. The Toronto rappers' comments about Macklemore, Kendrick Lamar, and Kanye West were highlighted, and it wasn't exactly in a positive light. Drake initially responded on Twitter by saying he was misquoted about Kanye, but later deleted the tweet. He also went as far as to say he was "disgusted" with Rolling Stone for replacing him on the cover, and that he would no longer due interviews with magazines.

Drake delivered a statement early this morning, apologizing for his actions, and also paid tribute to the late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who replaced Drake on the cover of Rolling Stone. "They ran the issue without giving me a choice to be in it or not," he said. "I would have waited until it was my time because I understand the magnitude of the cover they chose but I just wasn't given that option and that made me feel violated."

Shortly after Drake released his statement, Questlove sympathized with Drake on Twitter, claiming it was "criminal" for Rolling Stone to not give him an opportunity for the cover story in a later issue. "I doubt a non hip-hop would get passed over," he said. Read Questlove's comments below.

man, @Drake is a better man than i. RS can't be playing w/ someone's emotions like that. anytime we given a scrap that is historical.
then they revoke his (@Drake's) cover like "aint no thing". i personally live vicariously anytime someone on my side of the fence gets cover
no fair RS. do right by @Drake. why y'all acting like cover stories aren't the stuff thats made of dreams?
well, @ERZEN PSH deserves tribute. but to not postpone Drakes to a later issue is criminal. i doubt a non hip hop act would get passed over
