Frank Ocean is the target of a new sampling lawsuit stemming from the song "Super Rich Kids" from his album Channel Orange. The TufAmerica record label has sued the Vivendi and Universal Music Group over the usage of Mary J. Blige's "Real Love" on the song.
In an almost Inception-like twist, TufAmerica has claimed to own 3.15 percent of the copyright to "Real Love" which they received from an agreement that pertains to a sample of the Honeydrippers' track "Impeach the President" in Mary's song. A sample within a sample if you will.
TufAmerica also released a statement claiming that there was no license that cleared the Blige sample to be used in Ocean's song. The full document can be found here.
