The title of the song is a play on a woman's nether region, where Bellinger croons, "I hope you got nine lives/'Cause you know I'mma beat the kitty up." Aside from that slightly corny reference, "9 Lives" plays to Bellinger's strength as an artist who makes music for the bedroom. The same can be said for Too $hort and Ty Dolla, which makes this a favorable collaboration for the three involved.
"9 Lives" is off Bellinger's upcoming mixtape The ReBirth, which will be released February 11.
