T.I. is hard at work on his ninth studio album, Paperwork: The Motion Picture. It will be his first release on Columbia Records, where he signed last November after spending 10 prolific years with Atlantic.
In an interview with XXL, T.I. gave an update on the project, which is expected to include collaborations with Jeezy, Busta Rhymes, B.o.B., as well as Justin Timberlake. “DJ Toomp did a record. Actually, it’s a Justin Timberlake collaboration called “Trap Me Up,” T.I. says. “It’s an awesome record JT blessed me with.” This would be T.I. and Justin's third official release together. The first two, "My Love" and "Dead and Gone," were both successful singles on the Billboard charts.
T.I. also touched on his work with Pharrell, who signed to Columbia a month after the Atlanta rapper did. Clearly they, nor Columbia, are holding back on the chemistry that's happening in the studio. "Me and Pharrell have a plethora [of songs]. We probably done recorded 14 records," he says. "Words couldn’t even begin to describe how cutting-edge, left-field and just how broad these records are."
T.I.'s Paperwork: The Motion Picture is tentatively scheduled for a 2014 release date.
