There are many events in rap history that are either unknown or forgotten, from album releases to deaths to random ass events most of us can't even recall. As an attempt to remember those moments, Complex will share an event that helped shape hip-hop in a sometimes minor, sometimes major way. Join us as we look back on This Day in Rap History.

February 7, 1995

Albeit brief, 2Pac's life and career was highly publicized both for his music and legal troubles. In November 1993, 2Pac was arrested for forcable sodomy and unlawful imprisonment stemming from allegations that the rapper and three other men raped a 19-year-old Brooklyn woman. On February 7, 1995, he was sentenced to serve a year and a half at Clinton Correctional Facility in Upstate New York. He served his time while still recovering from gunshot wounds after being shot five times outside Quad Studios in New York City in November 1994.

In the 2002 documentary on Shakur's life, Tupac Shakur: Thug Angel, Digital Underground's Shock G talked about the powerful speech Pac gave in the court room that day. Catch the clip below.
