Over the last month and half, New York's hard-spitting veterans The LOX—the trio of Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and Styles P—have put themselves back in the middle of the hip-hop conversation, releasing a new EP and severalfreestyles while also weighing in on the state of the genre in general.

But while they're doing something new, they're also looking to the past for inspiration on their latest song, "Boom Bap." Sampling KRS-One's "Return of the Boom Bap," it's full of shout-outs to hip-hop legends ranging from the obvious to the more obscure. Rakim, Nas, Kool G Rap, Slick Rick, Lord Finesse, Lord Tariq and dozens of others get nods of approval. Study up carefully, kids, and check out "Boom Bap" below:
