The fam over at Ed Banger don't mess around, and their 2014 is shaping up to be something special. Their first big release of the year comes to us from Birdy Nam Nam member DJ Pone. His EP Erratic Impulses is described as "the perfect soundtrack to a metro ride between Château Rouge and Père Lachaise," and even if you're not up on that life, you should probably understand how this goes down. Perfect driving music, perfect riding music, and the best part is that this four-track EP actually comes with a dope 21-minute mix.

The EP is out on January 14, and he touched down for this week's Five Tracks, featuring an eclectic array of tunes featuring everything from the Beastie Boys to Gesaffelstein. You should get a great idea of what he's about via this selection, and as a bonus, we have a copy of "MFE," taken from Erratic Impulses, for you to dig in to.

I discovered this track a few years ago and I find the bass amazin I often play it and it sounds perfect on a big sound system. The entire EP is a production jewel.

Beastie Boys - "Pass the Mic"

It’s my #1 favorite band and will always be… RIP MCA!!

Mike Jones ft. Slim Thug & Paul Wall - "Still Tippin'"

Orgasmic from Sound Pellegrino made me discover this title. At this time it was a musical UFO to me. Now it’s one of my classics, too. The minimalistic production work is so efficient. It was a revelation to me.

Serge Gainsbourg - "Love on the Beat"

He’s my favorite French artist. His discography is perfect. I heard this track when I was six-years-old and it scared me. Hopefully I didn’t understand the lyrics. Although '80s productions sounds slightly outdated sometimes, I just love the sound of the Beat.

Gesaffelstein - "Pursuit"

He’s an essential artist of the techno music scene. There are so many references in his music. We have a lot of common musical tastes. I love his construction work and the sound of kicks he uses. That makes a real difference in a club!
