Atlanta's DJ Nando was shot and killed early this morning. The popular DJ—who was responsible for breaking artists like Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy and a staple in the city's venerable gentlemen's clubs—was found outside of his Clayton County home. According to the police, he was shot in the head and died soon after. The Clayton County Police Department have not identified a motive or suspect and have released no information at this time.

The DJ, born William Fernando Barnes, was part of the Coalition DJs Atlanta, along with Nick Love and Xavier “Big X” Hargrove. The two released a statement today upon their friend's passing.

Today we’ve lost not only a great talent and DJ, but our friend and brother . Nando had a great ear for talent and was highly respected within the DJ community and the music industry at large.. DJ Nando played a huge role in the success of Atlanta’s thriving music scene, and was a constant “go to” for labels and artists trying to get their music to the masses.

Jeezy and other aritsts like Jermain Dupri and Rico Love expressed their condolences for Nando, as well.

Rest in peace to my dear friend DJ Nando. My career wouldn't have got the start that it did w/o you. RIP to a legend of the south.
