Tonight, Justin Bieber had a special Christmas message for his Twitter followers:

My beloved beliebers I'm officially retiring

This isn't the first time that the 19-year-old singer has suggested he's reaching the twilight years of his career. Last week, he said the same thing in an interview with Los Angeles radio station Power 106 before quickly backtracking. But still! The chance of retirement! What pandemonium! What cruelty to the fans!

But really? His new movie, Believe, comes out tomorrow, and he just released a new album, Journals, this week. So, by most measures, Bieber is still very much around for the time being. In fact, as Bieber quickly clarified/further obfuscated, he's never leaving, and you can never trust the media:

The media talks a lot about me.They make a up a lot of lies and want me to fail but I'm never leaving you, being a belieber is a lifestyle.

So: a definitive statement that Bieber's calling it quits, a psychological fake-out promoting his new projects (get 'em while you can!), a simple case of hitting the egg nog a little too hard and catching a case of holiday malaise? Nope, probably just a flimsy troll, a sign that somebody's got a little grinch mischief up his sleeve, and an important Christmas message about those gosh darn naysaying, Scrooging non-Beliebers. But you can't be sure with trusting the media on this one.

Some things you can be clear on? Justin Bieber wants you to have a Merry Christmas, to be kind and loving this holiday season and to remember that, like Santa Claus and the Ghost of Christmas Past, he is immortal:

Be kind loving to each other, forgive each other as god forgave us through Christ Merry Christmas IM HERE FOREVER
