On the night of December 16, the apartment of singer Dev Hynes, a.k.a. Blood Orange, caught on fire, causing the artist to lose all of his possessions, as well as his small puppy. The artist took to Twitter to share the bad news:

Last night, the unthinkable happened. My entire apt burnt down while I was out. I've lost everything I own, including scores, hard drives...

.. clothes, sentimental items. Everything from my life is gone.

My dog died in the fire. I will love you forever Cupid. I miss you.

Robin Urbani, the mother of Hynes's girlfriend, also shared the news and created a post on the fundraising site GoFundMe, where she asked for financial support toward helping Hynes recover from the incident.

The fundraiser set an initial goal of $5,000, but, since it went up yesterday morning, it's brought in more than $23,000 from nearly 900 contributors. In a follow-up post, Urbani thanked people for their contributions and clarified that she had set up the page to help Hynes rather than, as some people may have assumed, Hynes setting it up for himself. She added that any extra money would be donated to charity. For those interested in donating, the page can be found here.
