Nas to Executive Produce B-Boy Documentary "Shake the Dust"

The film highlights break dancers from across the world.

Nas is lending his talents towards executive producing the soundtrack for a film called Shake The Dust. Directed by Adam Sjöberg, the film is a dance documentary that explores the empowering qualities of hip-hop and b-boy culture in war-torn, impoverished countries such as Uganda, Yemen, and Colombia. Nas will be overseeing the production and creating original songs for the film's soundtrack.

"What these kids are doing around the world reminds me why I fell in love with hip-hop and how important it is as a creative and constructive outlet," Nas said in a statement. "After hearing Adam's vision for this project and hearing the stories, I was incredibly excited to help bring the film to global audiences who need to hear this surprising message of empowerment."

The trailer gives a brief glimpse into the stories of young breakdancers that will be covered in the movie, and the struggles they have to overcome in their day-to-day lives. The images showcase a beauty in the artform that emerges from a dirty, dusty place.

The trailer ends with this powerful message from a young boy in Uganda: "We speak many languages in Uganda. For many of us, our first language is Luganda. But for me, my real language, the language of my heart, is hip-hop."
