Are you up on the latest and greatest? If not, don't worry, because Complex TV has got you covered with our new series the C-List. Whether it's music, sports or movies, we highlight everything you need to know in pop culture. The series is hosted by the lovely and talented Dariany Santana, who delivers a play-by-play on the biggest stories of today.
In the premiere episode of the C-List, Dariany Santana counts down the five greatest hip-hop beats of all time. The genre of hip-hop has been alive and well since its development in the 1970s. With that said, making this list means a song, and its producer for that matter, has established a musical legacy that will live on forever. It shouldn't come as a surprise then that Dr. Dre, RZA and Pete Rock all made the cut. These three producers paved the way for others back in the early '90s, and are also considered some of the most important figures in hip-hop history. However, only one beat can reign supreme, which Dariany describes as the "definitive hip-hop anthem." Watch above to find out which one topped the list.
