Fashawn has been hinting at the release of his long-awaited sophomore album, The Ecology, for years now. After all, his debut album, Boy Meets World, came out back in 2009. And while he dropped a mixtape last year called Champagne & Styrofoam Cups, fans have been clamoring for this big follow-up.

Today the Fresno native has unleashed his lead single, the Evidence-produced song called "The Beginning." Fash drops clever rhymes over a simple yet head-nodding loop from Evidence, proving that he has not regressed despite his absence from the scene solo wise. "The understanding of power/You get 15 minutes to be the man of the hour," Fash says.

The video, co-directed by Punit Dhesi and Evidence, finds Fashawn standing in front of a work of graffiti art as its being designed by TravMSK. The video is entirely in black-and-white. The word on the wall is "Fash," of course.

While The Ecology currently does not have a release date, it should hopefully come out soon.
