"I have aspirations to be Marvin Gaye."
Really, Drake? You could have fooled us. Drake gives even more background on Nothing Was The Same, which drops Sept. 24, in the second part of MTV's interview with him post-OVO Fest.
"Don't ever be surprised when I'm singing or using melody. I'm doing that on this album, this album is not some straight rap album. I'll never do a straight rap album," Drake said.
And if you're hoping for another Take Care, you're in for a treat—Drake says NWTS is better than his second studio album because he's learned how to convey his thoughts a lot more this time around.
"The music I'm making is more concise, more clear, I've been able to get my thoughts across a lot better on this album," he said. "Take Care is a great album but I listened to it and realized where I could do better and I think I've done better on this album."
