For the first time in a while, I feel completely ignorant (hold the jokes until later, please). All of these genres seemed to pop up out of nowhere in the past few months (zouk, semba, etc.) that seemed to hinge onto moombahton. This doesn't seem to be at all true. In looking up the roots of tarraxinha, it leads me back to kizomba, which is apparently "one of the most popular genres of dance and music originating in Angola" (thanks, Wikipedia). I need to lock myself in a room for a week and educate myself, apparently.

This all prompted me to reach out to some homies for a bit of background.  Hopefully I sort all of this out so I don't feel like such a dunce.  In the meantime, we have a wonderful record from King Kong. He is one of the few that seem to be dialed in on these genres, offering an incredibly relaxing rendition of this classic Akon record. This gives a somber record a slightly creepy vibe. It's so much nicer like this. It's also available for free download.
