Cause: Gang Starr dropped six impressive albums before splitting over small disagreements in the mid-2000s. Although we initially didn't understand why they split, it was pretty obvious they were no longer cool when Guru started touring without Premier as his DJ. In 2006, Guru said in an interview that Gang Starr had run it's course. After Guru passed in 2010, DJ Premier admitted that he hadn't spoken to Guru in six years due to Guru's problems with alcohol.
Currently: Sadly, Guru and Premier weren't able to squash it before Guru died in 2010. Rumor has it that previously unreleased Gang Starr material will drop later this year. Either way, RIP Guru.
