For musicians, nothing is more difficult than having to sit on good material. M.I.A. is gearing up to drop her fourth studio album Matangi, and based off of her impatient feelings towards Interscope, the album has been complete for some time now. Earlier this year she set plans for an April release but later stated in an interview that the label stalled the release of the new project because it is "too positive."

Last night the singer opened up via Twitter about the issue and toyed with the idea of releasing it to her fans for free. Is this a sign of new music to come?

If interscope takes longer i can always leak this next week and make a new one by the time they are ready.

M.I.A. dropped two new tracks earlier this summer, "Bring The Noize" and "Only 1 U," but still, no release date is in sight for her follow up to 2010's Maya.
