The headliners of the Colbert Report's annual StePhest Colbchella were supposed to be Daft Punk. Stephen Colbert had it all planned out that Daft Punk would perform "Get Lucky" on his show, but instead, the president of MTV Networks Music & Logo Group at Viacom Inc Van Toffler nixed the whole deal.

According to Colbert, Daft Punk was unable to show up to his program due to "contractual exclusivity," because the duo is set to make a surprise appearance at the VMAs on Aug. 25. The full video is available on Gawker.

It was recently announced that Kanye West would be performing at the show, as well. Will the two link up on stage? One could only hope.
