Zeds Dead Explain Their Creative Process For Complex TV's "Jambalaya"

Find out how the Toronto duo put together some of EDM's biggest hits, along with footage from their Jambalaya performance.

While out in Texas for their string of performances at Jambalaya, presented by Complex TV and produced by ScoreMore, Toronto duo Zeds Dead sat down to explain their rise in the EDM world and their process behind making music.

Uniting in 2004 under the previous moniker Mass Productions, Zeds Dead have pieced together a prolific career that includes a host of headlining shows at countless music festivals. It's a transition the two didn't necessarily envision, but they've taken it in stride. "I never expected to be someone that would perform," DC admitted. "I always thought we would just be like dudes in the background making music."

Zeds Dead have built their brand on an extensive catalog of original music and impressive remixes, which makes sense considering their rigorous creative process. "We probably make like a beat every day," Hooks said. "The process is actually separate," added DC. "He'll make a beat or I'll make a beat, and then we'll come together toward the end to finish it."

Zeds Dead put together a 20-minute mix to commemorate the memorable event of Jambalaya, which you can check out below, and be sure to catch the duo on tour this year. Full dates and details can be viewed here.
