“Hamster Wheel” is the most evocative cut from Talib Kweli’s new Prisoner of Conscious, so it’s only fitting that we now have a set of visuals to go along with the titular image. Spliced with shots of Kweli in shades that make it hard to tell whether he’s judging, the clip follows a lady-of-the-night through her daily routine, much of which involves taking care of her daughter. The struggle onscreen might not be beautiful, but it is honestly portrayed, and that’s key to a lesson like this one.
