Drake and J. Cole seem to want to put this issue to rest.
On "Jodeci (Freestyle)", a collaboration between the two, Cole mentioned autism in a pejorative way (“I’m artistic, you n*ggas is autistic, retarded”), which ignited furor among the autistic community. Cole issued an apology that acknowledged the strength of the autistic community and attempted to explain that he did not think of the people affected by the lyric.
Subsequently, Drake has also responded to the controversy. He issued the following statement which promises to remove the offensive lyric from the original song:
