Meet Dianne D (@WebDiva423), a South Florida social media communications advisor. Dianne wrote a piece on her blog titled, "How a Waka Flocka Flame Concert Ended My Marriage and Saved My Life."
When Dianne found out that a number of musicians, including Waka Flocka Flame, were doing a better job of social media promotion on Twitter than even experts were, she started following Waka. He started following her back. Next thing you know they were retweeting one another.
Dianne says it gave her "happiness, more followers, and credibility." She then started reviewing up-and-coming artists, including rappers.
Meanwhile, Dianne and her husband were having marriage problems—and he hated rap. When Waka Flocka announced an upcoming show in Florida, Dianne's husband tried to stop her from going.
She writes: "He basically implied that (and I’m paraphrasing) “many black men would be putting their bodies in close proximity to mine.” Also, “since I was so enamored of Waka, if Waka asked, I might go out clubbing with him and end up doing something I’d regret.”
Of course, she ended up going. Here's some excerpts review of Waka's show:
"I got my Waka concert ticket. I went by myself. And guess what? There were more white people there than anything else, and people from every age group."
Dianne writes that it made her realize that no one should keep you from doing what will make you happy.
She ended her marriage, and wrote that the only song in her heart, "will always be a song by Waka Flocka Flame."
