During an interview with the Breakfast Club, singer Vali talked about how she ended up signing with Rostrum Records, which is also the home of Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller. She first met label president Benjy Grinberg while the two were taking a flight from Arizona to New York. At the time, Vali was a backup dancer for a rapper managed by Grinberg and signed to Universal. As the two sat on the flight, Vali decided to share her music with Grinberg. While the first two songs did not move the label head at all, the third one did, and that prompted him to offer the songstress an opportunity to sing hooks for a then unheralded Wiz.

Later on in the interview, Vali talks about the different jobs she has had to work while figuring out how to make it in the music industry. She also demonstrates her vocal abilities live in the studio with an impromptu acapella.
