Kanye West's expose with The New York Times yesterday has been a talking point for seemingly anyone and everyone that he mentioned in the interview. That goes for dead prez's M-1 too, who spoke with Vibe about Kanye's reference to their early influence on his creative output.

During the lengthy interview, Kanye said, "It wasn't until I hung out with dead prez and understood how to make, you know, raps with a message sound cool that I was able to just write 'All Falls Down' in 15 minutes."

M-1 explained that this shout out was a testament to the group's skills. "Hearing Kanye say that about dead prez is like man sharpens man, steel sharpens steel. I consider myself a peer of Kanye."

He also spoke on the anticipation surrounding Yeezus, which drops next week. "I love his unquenched, eternal search for who he is no matter how egotistical it may be," M-1 said.
