Jennifer Lopez flew to Turkmenistan to perform for President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov’s 56th birthday party today. Reportedly the first major Western celebrity to visit the country, Lopez performed with her troupe of half-naked backup dancers and sang "Happy birthday, Mr. President." She was donned in traditional Turkmen attire at the event, which featured a crowd of government officials ambassadors, and the heads of state-run companies.

Overall, it seems as if J. Lo and her entourage enjoyed their visit to Turkmenistan, as evidenced by the tweets from her backup dancers and choreographer. But Turkmenistan's human rights violations will have activists around the world furious about the performance. Already, some people are responding to the tweets from Lopez's entourage with righteous fury. Meanwhile, Lopez herself has not publicized the trip on her Twitter account.

The Turkmenistan Breeze feels amazing at night Kidz! I wonder were all my Turkmenistan followers are!? Hit me up!

Obviously, this is not the first time that an artist has performed at the private party of a dictator. And considering how much wealth some of these leaders have at their disposal, this will not be the last time either.

Hopefully, they didn't ban alcohol at the party.
