We recently looked at a documentary that asked what happened to New York City, dissecting the underground electronic scene of the city. One of the simple answers could have been "Have you checked out Bassment Saturdays at Webster Hall?" Subset, who has been resident DJ during this night since 2011, has made it a point to highlight DJs from the more underground scene, with everyone from Alvin Risk to Buku stepping up to show their skills. His DJ sets play to a similar aesthetic, with the importance being on showcasing the beauty of electronic producers and beats that you're not really up on.
For his DAD mix, Subset presented the first part of his Split Personalities series, hitting us with just under 55 minutes of the deeepst house followed by some of the most hypnotic trap-esque sounds that you've heard, with producers like CRNKN, Phonat, Gorgon City, Mr. Carmack and many others being represented. This is one of those mixes where you might end up going down a few rabbit holes, filling in the gaps on producers you've missed.
