The Best Songs of 2013 (So Far)

10. Drake "5AM In Toronto"

Album: Nothing Was the Same
Producer: Boi-1da
Label: Young Money,Cash Money,Republic

Drake's arrogance is in full swing on "5AM in Toronto"—an arrogance that's well deserved, as he is an artist at the peak of his powers. "You underestimated greatly," he starts, as the thump of the drums Boi-1da and Vinyl put together kicks in. This is Drake not giving one fuck on a song, not wanting new friends, sounding tired of seeking validation, getting all of the frustrations out on a single track. "They need me more than they hate me," he says of his rival rappers. And coming off a year of guest appearances on chart-topping hits like "Amen," "Fuckin' Problems," and "Pop That," Drake reminds everyone that everything we're listening to sounds like Drake featuring Drake. He's got a point. —Lauren Nostro
