In January, Zedd added another notch to his belt by being the first EDM artist to perform live on Late Show with David Letterman. We loved it, possibly more for what it represented to the rise of EDM on the whole, but we have read that many felt his performance was a bit anti-everything when it came to "what EDM represents" (whatever the fuck that means) by performing an accoustic version of "Clarity" with Foxes and Alvin Risk. Since then, we've not heard anything about new EDM acts being brought on, which isn't surprising, but if these late-night wars are going to heat up, now is the time for Letterman and the other hosts to get some dance music acts booked. DAD figured we would take some of the guesswork out, and provide Letterman with a batch of acts that could both bring in the views as well as provide a stellar performance that would better represent what their sound is about.
Disclosure
While most acts have to rework their tracks to better suit a live performance, but Disclosure has already been doing this with their live shows, sticking with intriguing PAs at some of the biggest festivals in America. Guy and Howard already pop star status in the UK, and with their growing U.S. buzz, this actually seems like a realistic possibility, right?
Justice
The OTHER french duo, Justice, is known for their throwback rock & roll-inspired live show and have already accessed all arenas. Maybe they can get Dave dancing?
Destroid
When Destroid dons their outfits and goes to MIDI war, Internets riots incite. The time is right for this immense show to be given a new outlet.
A-Trak
The Brooklyn-based DJ is always in town. How about getting him on the subway with his decks to rock some dope routines and show people turntablism isn't dead?
Netsky
Maybe you already know drum & bass isn't just "fast dubstep" and it certainly isn't for chumps, but what about Dave? Or, the rest of America? Netsky's modern dnb would work well on Letterman. Given an opportunity, he'd know doubt churn out a killer live show.
Magnetic Man
The London-based trio—DJ Benga, Skream, and Artwork—has already recorded with a full orchestra in the famed Maide Vale studios, so why not do it again in the Big Apple? Skream says that they're working on a new album that should be out in the not too distant future. So, why not plan ahead? Plus, imagine if Dave got Skream and Benga together on the couch for a quick interview—talk about JOKES!
Hot Natured
With their impending U.S. debut slated for July 6 in NYC, maybe Hot Natured could slide in on Dave's schedule then and perform something like "Reverse Skydiving?"
Flux Pavilion
When Flux took to livestream to hype up his Blow the Roof EP, it was great to see his energy (which included singing along to his own tracks) translate to a true performance. He has the hits to bring out a number of different vocalists and surprises and he's talked about an eventual live show at length, so why not debut it on Late Show?
Armin van Buuren
Perhaps Armin could get together with Miri Ben-Ari on violins and other live instrumentalists to put together a rendition of "Intense" and show off electronic music's true musicianship.
Daft Punk
This one should be a no-brainer. "Get Lucky" is one of the biggest singles to touch down in 2013, and getting Pharrell (and Nile Rodgers!) to join Daft Punk for a live rendition on late-night TV would be a huge coup. Maybe they could schedule this around the time of the remix release?
