Album: It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
Label: Def Jam
Producer: The Bomb Squad
When Flava Flav asks you to do something (much like Simon of Simon Says fame) you do it. Whereas most of the songs on this list make you want to commit violence against another person or inanimate object, "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos" (like most of Public Enemy's songs) makes you want to direct that aggression towards a government that systematically oppresses the people that it claims to represent. Violence begets change begets peace. The jarring piano loop and Chuck D's gruff voice will have most anybody feeling like Malcolm X peering out from behind the curtain.
This Song Also Makes Us Want To: Spark a Revolution Against an Oppressive Government That Does Not Represent Our Interests
