Yesterday, country singer Brad Paisley released the record “Accidental Racist” off his upcoming album Wheelhouse. The title itself is odd enough, but what turns out to be even more perplexing is when veteran rap star LL Cool J jumps on the tail end of the track with a verse out of left field. The rhymes are replete with ironic, if not disconcerting overtones about slavery and racism. We’re not saying that LL doesn’t know his history, but this song won't convince anyone he cares about it.
As expected, Twitter did what it does best in lambasting the rapper/actor for his verse, and we can’t blame them with lines like, “R.I.P. Robert Lee, but I’ve gotta thank Abraham Lincoln for freeing me.” Read on for a closer look at what happens when Twitter Reacts to LL Cool J and Brad Paisley's "Accidental Racist." It wasn't pretty.
