Her court date is approaching.

While Lauryn Hill faces sentencing later this month after failing to file tax returns from 2005 to 2007, reports have surfaced that she claims threats to her family may be the reason behind her legal woes.

Hill faces a maximum of one year in jail and $100,000 in fines for each count.

According to TMZ, Hill filed legal docs claiming the reson she failed to file tax returns for three years—although she earned more than $1.8 million in that time— was because "she withdrew from society at large due to what she perceived as manipulation and very real threats to herself and her family."

She's allegedly asking for probation and her next court date is Apr. 22.
