Yesterday morning, Kid Cudi called up Hot97 to chat with Ebro, Cipha Sounds and K. Foxx. They touched on a variety of topics including Cudi's growth as an artist, his relationship with Kanye West, and his IDGAF attitude.
But the highlight of the conversation came when Cudi was asked about Rick Ross and his controversial rape lyrics that ended with Rozay losing his Reebok sponsorship and offering a public apology.
Cudi admits to being a fan of Ross and says he's a nice guy (they met in Hawaii during the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy sessions) but said, "That lyric in particular, come on man, that shit is super sketch. It is a super sketchy line. But people can get caught up in the artistry sometimes. He was just writing fresh ass raps, he's thinking it's just a cold line."
From there, Cudi talked about artistic responsibility and how far he went on cuts on Man on The Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager.
"Would I take it there now? Would I try to make shit that edgy? No because I have a responsibility. I would go out and see kids and they'd be like, "YO I'M ON COKE RIGHT NOW!!" And I'd be like, "Oh man, that's not cool."
However, Cudi doesn't claim to regret the album in any way, he just backs away from it's edgy content. Lesson here: Drugs are bad. Say no to drugs. Also don't put molly in girl's drinks.
