Beyonce has hired R&B singer and New Orleans native Luke James to open for the duration of the European leg of "The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour" in April and May.

April 2, James opened for The-Dream at Stage 48 in New York, and to say that he stood out would be an understatement. The singer had the crowd eating out of his hand; his song selection, vocal style and phrasing have a joyous perfectionism, also evident in his free mixtape Whispers in the Dark and—especially—his recent single "I Want You."

James is co-managed by Frank Gatson Jr., who also serves as Beyonce's Creative Director, so perhaps it's no surprise that the star chose James to open for her shows. But it's hard to deny the singer's talents, which include a flawless falsetto and some excellent songwriting choices. He's currently working on his N.A.R.S./Island Def Jam debut album, entitled Made to Love.
