Love him or hate him, Skrillex is the face of EDM. Just look at what he's doing or has done and there's really no argument. He's inspired millions of people with his hair, and he's got one of the hottest labels. He's working with big-time rappers like Kanye West, Waka Flocka, and A$AP Rocky, and he's won multiple Grammys - even scored a movie. He's has over one billion views on YouTube and, along with Diplo and A-Trak, he's behind the Potato Network. He was listed on Forbes' "30 Under 30" list, has Las Vegas DJ residencies on tap and he's half of the Dog Blood supergroup with Boys Noize. And on Wednesday, he was closing speaker at IMS Engage.
Wait that last one what?! Yep, Skrillex was the closing speaker at the International Music Summit Engage conference. According to various Twitter reports, Skrillex revealed much of his motivation, his plans (like opening a music and art incubation space in downtown LA/Chinatown), and while DAD wasn't at IMS Engage this time around (and we're pretty sad about it right now), thanks to Twitter we were able to curate these gems of insight and pieces of personal philosophy from Skrillex's lecture.
