While at SXSW earlier this month, Talib Kweli sat down for an extended interview with Hard Knock TV’s Nick Huff Barili. In the video above, Talib kicks things off by talking about growing up listening to Doug E. Fresh before getting into his new album, Prisoner of Conscious and the unusual story of its title.
From there, Talib weighs in on MTV’s ever-controversial “Hottest MCs” list, calling it a popularity contest and saying that he would belong on the list if it were “Best MCs.” Finally, Kweli tells an anecdote about the late, great J Dilla. Watch that up above and pick up the new album on May 7.
