13. Toni Braxton "You're Making Me High" (1996)

Director: Bille Woodruff
Album: Secrets

While the exquisite Toni Braxton, dressed in all-white in front of an abstract blue backdrop (as if, perhaps, high enough to touch the sky), sang her song of obsession while making some of the world's most seductive glances, a group of women convened at a table and graded men using playing cards as they enter the room. But cycling through male types while each woman waits for her ripped hero to take her down the elevator seems almost like a half-hearted attempt to not completely lose a straight female audience, because it is Braxton's presence in the video that draws the most attention; every move she makes on the screen seems designed to draw all eyes to her and her song of confident, prurient devotion.
