First Impressions: The 50 Best Album-Opening Songs in Rap History

38. Mac Dre "Feelin Myself" (2004)

Producer: Sean T.
Album: Ronald Dregan
Label: Thizz Entertainment

It took Mac Dre twenty years to perfect the effortlessly amused style of "Feelin' Myself" and within four months of its release he would be dead. The leadoff track on Ronald Dregan repurposes the annoying-yet-seductive noises of Eminem's "The Real Slim Shady" but where Em's rhymes were densely wired bombs of agitated comedy, Mac Dreezy is the epitome of suaveness, even when his wordplay goes goofy: "I'm sicker than SARS / Higher than Mars / And I treat my bitch like an ATM card." He was a cockeyed master of ceremonies and the coolest person in the room. This song ensured that his status would never change even long after he left his own party. Sam Sweet
