Capone-N-Noreaga "Phone Time" (2000)
Label: Def Jam
Capone and Noreaga trade barbs on the prison phone line over a banging beat from the same guy who gave us "LIfe's A Bitch" and "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It." Capone is locked up, Nore isn't, "holding it down" on the streets instead. Their quips make for an amusing dialogue, as they discuss just about everything that's happening, both inside and out: the new Jordans, the status of the crack cocaine industry, beef, and the weed and porn stashed in his cell. The song take an optimistic turn when Noreaga tells Capone the following:
"I used to be ugly, now these bitches is Medusa
And guess what? I made you executive producer
Some extra G's, so when you come home you breathe"
When Capone gets home, they're gonna rap, roll dice, smoke, and pop bottles. Until then, he'll have to contend with C.O.'s pressing him for autographs for their kids and the usual gamut of prison drama, but you can tell that none of the cons are even on his mind. He's coming home to money and a rap career, or as Capone puts it: "Son, there's only one minute left." —Ernest Baker
