The 25 Biggest First-Week Album Sales in Music History

Garth Brooks, Double Live: 1,085,000

Release Date: 12/1/1998

Double Live was a double-disc recording culled from the country star's 1998 world tour. In the wake of Brooks' incredible popularity and multi-platinum 1997 studio LP Sevens, the live album went 21 times platinum, although it was aided by Soundscan's methodology for double-disc releases, which counts each purchase as two copies. It was the best-selling live album since Eric Clapton Unplugged, and became the sixth-best selling album of all time in the United States, tying Billy Joel.
