It seems as if nobody will be satisfied by MTV's Hottest MCs In the Game list.
Pusha T has now spoken up about his absence from the list. Calling DJ Semtex on BBC Radio 1Xtra, Pusha explained to to the radio host why he deserved to be on the list in some capacity. Despite not releasing a solo project in 2012, Pusha said that he merited an inclusion due to the caliber of the tracks he was featured on, referring to "Mercy," "Don't Like (Remix)," and "New God Flow," which, according to Pusha, was the "hip-hop record of the year."
In further conversation about the list, the G.O.O.D. Music rapper addresses the war of words he waged this past year with Lil Wayne and Young Money. "All year I blacked out on a whole crew by myself," Pusha claimed, later adding, "I blacked out on people's favorites [...] I had emcees denouncing their fan base, coming back with records talking about, 'Well, as long as my chicks love me...'"
Later on in the interview, Pusha defends Future's placement on the list and argues for why Kanye West should have been placed higher on the list.
Earlier, however, he got a chance to talk about his upcoming album, My Name Is My Name, which he is currently working on with Kanye and a team of producers in Paris. According to Pusha, My Name Is My Name thus far only has a feature from Rick Ross, and includes production from Kanye, Pharrell, The Dream, Swizz Beatz, Rico Beats, Nottz, Don Cannon, and Hudson Mohawke. The only song released publicly that will make the cut as of now is "Pain."
