Chris Brown told MTV in an interview that he plans to open up on his forthcoming album, X, due out this year. He says he's past the BS and is ready to delve into more serious R&B topics.

Brown says he's looking to channel soul music icons like Stevie Wonder and Sam Cooke, and he's working with mega-producer Diplo on the title track. "The song and the album title 'X' has a couple different meanings," Brown told MTV. "It can refer to an ex-girlfriend, in terms of you always look forward to moving forward from.

"It's also about being a reject in a sense," Brown continued. "In me being myself, being able to grow up, me not always hanging around the right crowd or doing the right thing all the time — it's me saying, 'I'm over it. I'm past the bullsh-- now.' "

We'll see, Breezy. We'll see.
